Ce matin, nous prenons notre temps; nous n’avons qu’une petite journée en avant de nous. Nous quittons le Visitor Center en direction des écluses vers 10h45. Vers 14h00, nous arrivons à Goat Island, où nous allons jeter l’ancre pour la nuit. Alraso lance alors une invitation pour un 5 à 7 sur son bateau.
Vers 16h30, je vois deux voiliers québécois (un 10D… et un 49D…) passer. Je les rejoins sur le VHF et les invite à venir prendre un verre avec nous plutôt que de se rendre à Elizabeth City, qui est moins adapté aux vents que nous avons présentement. Ils font demi-tour et s’ancrent à nos côtés.
Alraso étend son invitation de 5 à 7, on est finalement 12 Québécois et 2 Britanniques, sans compter les 5 enfants. Nous passons une soirée formidable, tout le monde a plein d’histoires et d’anecdotes à raconter. Notre 2e mois est définitivement plus axé sur le social, ça rend le voyage drôlement plus agréable.

This morning, we take our time; we only have a small day ahead of us. We departure from the visitor center in direction of the lock at around 10:45 am. We finally get to Goat Island at around 2 pm, where we drop our hook for the night. Alraso invites everyone for a 5 to 7 on his boat.
At around 4:30 pm, I see two sailboats from Quebec (one 10D… and one 49D…) go by. I hail them on the VHF and invite them to come have a beer with us instead of going to Elizabeth City, which is less suitable with the kind of winds we are experiencing right now. They quickly turn around and anchor beside us.
Alraso extends his invitation, in the end, we are 12 from Quebec and 2 from Great Britain, not including the 5 kids. We have a wonderful evening, everyone has stories to tell. Our second month is definitively more oriented towards social life, it makes the trip a lot more interesting.
