Ce matin, nous partons avec Jean-Pierre de J-PSA à la recherche du West Marine, une petite course de 4.2 milles terrestres (aller seulement), avec les vélos prêtés gratuitement par la marina. Sur le chemin, on arrête au Bass Pro Shop, un genre de Toys-R-Us pour mâle adulte. Je n’ai jamais vu autant de d’équipement de camping, chasse et pèche au même endroit; le paradis doit ressembler à cela. Au West Marine, Jean-Pierre a le droit à un méchant deal; la caissière pense que la gaffe et la brosse qu’il achète sont un ensemble, elle ne lui charge que la gaffe.

En après-midi, on se fait une petite réunion Mathurin 2, J-PSA et Alraso, pour planifier nos prochains déplacements. On s’enligne pour prendre d’assaut la Dismal Swamp samedi.

En soirée, je laisse mon père avec Skype et vais explorer la baie. Je fais environ 200m avant de rencontrer Sunrise (http://www.sailblogs.com/member/beherenowii/) qui m’invite à prendre une bière. Nous avons rencontré le couple hier au 5 à 7 avec leur adorable petite fille de 21 mois. Ils sont partis depuis plus de 1 an et se préparent à participer au Caribbean 1500. Je passe la soirée à discuter avec eux et un autre couple qui voyage avec une petite fille de 5 ans.

This morning, we go looking for West Marine with Jean-Pierre from J-PSA, a 4.2 statute miles (one way) trip, using bikes the marina lends boaters for free. On the way, we stop at Bass Pro Shop, some sort of Toys-R-Us for grown up mens. I have never seen so much camping, hunting and fishing gear in one place; paradise must look similar to this. At West Marine, Jean-Pierre gets a very good deal. The cashier thinks the gaff and the brush that he is buying are one item; she only charges the gaff.

In the afternoon, we have a little meeting with J-PSA and Alraso to plan our next moves. From what it looks like, we should be heading towards Dismal Swamp on Saturday.

In the evening, I leave my father with Skype and go out on a field trip around the bay. I get to do about 200m before encountering Sunrise (http://www.sailblogs.com/member/beherenowii/), who invites me over for a beer. We met the couple yesterday at the 5 to 7 with their adorable 21 months old little girl. They started their trip over a year ago and are now preparing to take part in the Caribbean 1500. I spend the evening talking with them and another couple who are travelling with a 5 years old girl.
