Ce matin, on décide de profiter de la belle température pour quitter Solomons Island en direction de Mill Creek (Great Wicomico River). Le vent est idéal, on roule pendant un certain temps sous voilure réduite pour terminer la journée toutes voiles dehors, ce qui nous permet de maintenir une vitesse moyenne de 6 nœuds sans l’aide du moteur. C’est tellement agréable de ne pas entendre le bruit du moteur.
En fin d’après midi, on entre en contact avec Alraso, un catamaran québécois que nous avions croisé à Solomons. Ils nous confirment qu’ils feront un arrêt au même endroit que nous pour la nuit, on s’y donne donc rendez-vous.
On s’ancre à l’intérieur de Mill Creek, un endroit tout simplement magnifique, avec l’idée d’y passer quelques jours. Nous sommes grandement limités par nos assurances, il nous reste peu de distance à parcourir avant de ne plus pouvoir continuer. Alraso n'a pas d’assurances et l’autre voilier qui les suit, J-PSA, à une assurance qui le limite au nord du 35e parallèle jusqu’au 1er novembre plutôt que jusqu’au 15 novembre comme le nôtre. Ils restent donc à l’extérieur de la baie pour accélérer leur départ le lendemain.

This morning, we have a very nice weather window to leave Solomons Island in direction of Mill Creek (Great Wicomico River). The wind is ideal, we do part of the distance under reduced sail, to end the day with everything out, which allowed us to maintain a good average speed of 6 knots without the help of the engine. It’s so nice to be underway without hearing the engine.
At the end of the afternoon, we get in touch with Alraso, a catamaran from Quebec that we met at Solomons. They confirm us that they will be stopping in the same stop than us for the night, so we will meet there.
We anchor inside Mill Creek, a spot that is simply extraordinary, with the idea of spending a few days there. We are very limited by our insurance company, we have little distance to travel before we can’t get any further south. Alraso is not insured and the other sailboat traveling with them, J-PSA, has an insurance that limits them to be north of the 35th parallel until November 1st, instead of November 15th as ours. So they stay outside of the bay to accelerate their departure the next day.
