Une fois le grand ménage terminé, on s’est rapidement rendu compte qu’il y avait beaucoup plus de travail à faire que prévu initialement. De plus, l’inspection maritime a révélé certains bobos qui ne nous avaient même pas effleuré l’esprit. Tant qu’à être dans le sujet, je vais faire un peu de publicité… je recommande fortement l’inspecteur maritime Michel Savage (www.savageyachting.com), un homme très sympathique, mais surtout extrêmement professionnel (je n’ai aucun intérêt commercial avec Savage Yatching). Donc au cours des 5 années qui suivirent, un grand nombre de travaux eurent lieu. En voici une liste non exhaustive :

-Remplacement de l’âme (core) de tout le pont (de loin le plus gros projet)
-Réparation du gouvernail
-Peinture des œuvres vivres
-Remise à neuf de toute la plomberie
-Remise à neuf de tout le filage électrique de bateau, du panneau électrique et construction d’un compartiment à batteries
-Nettoyage des réservoirs d’eau, de diesel et installation d’un nouveau réservoir septique
-Installation d’une éolienne
-Vernissage de toutes les boiseries
-Fabrication d’un nouveau pied de mat
-Conception et installation de deux nouveaux daviers (projet qui devrait être terminé demain)
-Etc.

Once the big cleanup was done, we quickly realised that there was a lot more work to be done then initially forcasted. As if not enough, the marine survey found some problems we had not even tought of. While in the subject, I’m going to do some well deserved publicity… I higly recommand Michel Savage (www.savageyachting.com) as your next marine surveyor (if you ever feel the need). He is a very nice gentlemant, but most important, he is extremely professional. So during the course of the next 5 years, a great number of improvements were made on the boat. Here is a non exaustive list:

-Complete deck recore (by far the biggest project)
-Rudder repair
-Bottom paint
-Complete overall of the plumbing system
-Complete overall of the boat’s wiring, electrical panel and construction of a new battery compartement.
-Cleaning of the water tanks, diesel tank and installation of a new septic tank.
-Installation of a wind generator
-Varnishing of all woodwork
-Fabrication of a new mast step
-Conception and installation of two bow rollers (this project should be done by tomorrow)
-Etc.
